kids say the darnedest things

"My shirt is broken! My shirt is broken!"

William was wailing and pulling at his sleeveless basketball jersey. All winter long he has been wearing long sleeved shirts and the lack of sleeves boggled his mind.

Dat and I looked at one another and just started cracking up. Moments like this inspired me to begin writing on this blog.

William is only twenty six months old, but it seems as if he has always been in our lives and we can scarcely imagine a life without him. William and James are our reason for breathing and living. Everything we do, we do with our sons in mind.

Mommy and Daddy love you William and James. William, we promise to try not to give you anymore "broken" shirts. :)

finally getting started...

I created this blog quite a few months back, but this is my very first post. I think I tried so hard to write something profound that I just never got around to writing anything at all.

What inspired me to finally begin writing is my first born William. He said the funniest thing the other day and I thought to myself, I need to write this down. I don't want to forget this moment.

I'm not sure if anyone will read this at all...just in case someone out there is reading my random thoughts, I'll provide some background on myself and my family.

I met my wonderful husband Dat 15 years ago in Orange County, California at a high school party one balmy night. I was a senior in high school and he was a freshman in college. Can't say it was love at first sight, but I did think he was very cute.

He used to be so creative...or maybe he had a lot of help from his sister, but anyhow he folded up hundreds of tiny origami stars with "will you be my girlfriend" handwritten inside each star and placed these stars in a glass jar with our names etched on it. He gave it to me on April 17, 1996 and told me to open the stars and of course I said, "yes!"

Flash forward 15 years, many movie dates, mini vacations, and a cross country move and now we're married with two kids and living in Tallahassee, Florida.

Our son William was born on Christmas morning in 2008 and 21 months later, we welcomed James on the 7th of September. Along with our wedding day, those were the happiest days of my life. We're blessed to have two adorable little boys that bring us so much joy and laughter. Every day is an adventure with these two.

It's not always easy taking care of two kids, working part time and going to school part time, but somehow I'm managing. Kudos to Dat for being a super supportive husband and our two boys for sleeping pretty well at night and giving mommy lots of rest.

Hopefully this blog will help me record the minute details in my life that I find amusing or interesting and allow me to share these memories with my family around the globe...
